Raised with the Suzuki Method with guidance from leading teacher trainers of Chicago and Toronto, Heather is experienced in teaching the foundational techniques vital for excellent violin playing for beginners of all ages. Through a holistic approach, Heather combines the technique of the Suzuki method with the musicality of Paul Rolland's teaching, to support her students in developing their own musical voice at any age. As a member of several folk and indie music bands and collectives, Heather is comfortable teaching folk and improvisational techniques, as well as the skills necessary to play with others, whether in classical or contemporary scenes. Heather is especially passionate about chamber music; she seeks opportunities to introduce musicians to the positive benefits of playing with others, thus developing sensitivity to musical ideas, empathy for the emotions of others, and confidence in their ability to contribute meaningful  ideas.

She has taught preschoolers to advanced college undergraduates and is comfortable teaching in Spanish. With a passion for music written by living composers & for music played by members of underrepresented communities , Heather seeks to instill within each student a mind reaching for musical excellence, a heart eager to help, serve, and love others, and a body confident and strong in its value within this culture, community, and world.
